how to open the hood on a 1988 sedan deville if the cable brole

himalayan style:

I ussually get under the front of the car and open it by moving the safety lash with my finger.
This may also work; Hold the hood release wire lever open from inside the car with a something - a screwdriver or some such thing. Then just pull up on the hood and voila, it releases the latch.
