I would think if you were sending it to a friend then a cashiers check sent by next day mail and require a receipt would insure it not be taken by someone other than the intended source. You have other alternate ways to show proof of funds to the seller, but always remember the "buyer beware". If I were you I'd make sure there is a car for sale and check on the ligitimacy of the seller. I hope this helps some
I echo the words of caution. Read http://www.fraudaid.com/proof_of_funds_fraud.htm which warns that scammers do this to establish legitimacy and take control of their victims. However, I note your "model a" tag. A seller of a Model A does not sound like a typical scammer. There are many Model A Ford clubs (just do a search for those 4 terms). Ask the seller if he is in such a club and which one. Contact the club and verify the seller's claim. That would give you some assurance that the seller can deliver the car.
Send it from your bank to their bank account. Safest way to go and you have proof in your hand that you paid it, just in case... I mean that is a lot of money!!!...Proof of funds...print out a bank statement and show you have the money. use a marker to blank everything out Name, account number etc...just not the sum you have in there so they can see you have it....i wouldn't send a cent....who knows if you hear from them again...
