Are you hearing the engine trying to turn over? Are you not hearing anything? If you hear it trying to turn over, it may be the alternator. If it's clicking or nothing, then check the starter. Alternators are usually the first things that get changed on used cars.
first try- it was trying to turn but wouldnt. how do i check the starter?
If all you hear is a click. Try jump starting it. Maybe new battery is dead also. Did you leave it on the ground before you installed it? This will drain it. Test the battery. Got lights and bells and whistles then you have some power maybe not enough to engage the starter though.
You can get underneath and use a screwdriver to touch the two leads on the solenoid switch that's on the starter. Be careful, though. The key must be in the 'on' position. Judging all the other comments here, you may have a dead battery on your hands.
that could be a number of things from a dead short to a bad starter. Relay switch. The computer. Ythere are so many things that could cause this right down to the ignition switch. good luck. Check the battery cables too
Sounds like it could be a hassel i should pass on huh ?!?!?
Well no not necessarily. How much time do you have. Money? If it does start with a jump let it run awhile and switch it off. If the alternator is working then this should charge the battery back up. The car should start again on it's own then. If not and a jump started it before try jumping it again and drive it to a local service station and have them run a diagnostics test for you. Minimal charge to see how much it's going to run you to repair. Good Luck.
no answer to your Q but a great big WELCOME!~
