Until the government of this country stops worrying about themselves and lining their pockets. We its sad too say are at the mercy of those in Washington.
We have seen the effect of "free trade". We have more Latino friends coming than ever before. Did free trade help them? no just made more money for American corporations. We have poison food, toys and who knows what else coming from china.
Japan now builds more cars in this country of ours than G.M. so free trade didn't seem too work too well.
What the workers want does not seem that extreme. Job security, secure pension and an raise once and a while. However the workers at G.M. still insist on complete health care. They receive more sick days and paid holidays than me and my wife put together. But free trade is making this a fiscal impossibility.
And of course the company will say they have a duty too there share holders. Just exactly who are their share holders? Thought that was us the people that bought their cars.
When our government stops looking at this from a mindset of "what is best for their contributors'" it might be too late. This is bigger than just one strike at G.M. and in the final analysis we the American people will lose.
