The purpose of having your headlights on all the time with the new cars is to increase your visibility. Your running lights are not visible or bright enough to act as visual signals in daylight. The running lights were originally designed to be used when you were parked in a dark area to preclude anyone from hitting your parked car.
Sorry, maybe running lights was incorrect, I meant the lights that come on when you start the car and drive away. They are less bright than head lights but still visable to others
There is actually no such things as "Running Lights!" The small yellow or amber lights found on your car are parking lights and it is against the law in most states to use them while you are moving!Maybe you mean those brilliant "fog lights" that people blind oncoming drivers with, huh?
No, I know about those bilnding fog lights. and parking lights. So, what do you call the lights that come on when you start the car and stay on that you can't turn off if you wanted to unless you turn the key off?? those are the ones I am asking about.
You mean the lights that light up your dash?
What kind of car do you have? Year? Model?
My daughter has a Mitsubishi Eclipse and it does what QC wrote. It is her headlights and she cannot turn them off as long as the engine is running.
OK! Just Browsing! I found a forum for the Eclipse in which at lwast on guy has your problem, and it dosn't look like the "fog lights" can be trned off!Check out this forum and read the answers to the man's problem!http://www.mitsubishi-forums.com/t26868-turn-off-daytime-running-light.htm
Thank you all but the lights are not a problem, there was never a problem! It was a question. The question was when those lights are on (whatever the lights are called) do you need to turn on your main headlights when you enter a "daylight test zone?
