Here is a link to taxes by state:http://www.energy.ca.gov/gasoline/statistics/gas_taxes_by_state_2002.htmlAnother:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline_tax
Very good link but they don't address the 'extra's'. Such as the Super Fund Clean-up Fee, the Load Fee (Trucking company pays about $100. every time they fill a truck for air pollution fees, Drop Fees (every time the tanker unloads the station pays another air pollution fee of about $75/tank). HazMat tanker fees, Hazmat vehicle insurance, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.... All of which gets passed on to the customer getting a fill up (should say rip off...lol..) at the dispenser, You also have, in some places, State fees in addition to the state tax, county fees and taxes, city fees and taxes........ In 1997 I read that for every dollar we spend on gas - almost .76 cents goes to taxes or fees of some sort. My question, outside of the ranting & raving) is that if we paid .75 cents for every dollar then, are the states, counties, cities, misc. funds and fees getting a windfall type of bonus money due to the high cost of fuel?
You didn't ask for a breakdown of the tax expenditures.
In 2005 the average was 45.9 cents per gallon in all taxes.
way to fraggin much
