I had a 79 928, the engines are bullet proff and will last forever. They had cold start injector problems though. They have one injector that is in the intake maniford for cold start only. They go bad all the time. To see if its working pull it out of the housing and have it shoot fuel into a glass when cold. it should spray like a windex bottle. Many dealers will give you a classic car discount on parts just ask. usually 50% off. They are a beautiful car to drive.
I was just thinking, you have 2 fuel pumps, one prepump in the fuel tank that goes bad all the time and the other one is on the firewall by the drivers side. that has a filter that plugs in the tank fuel pump goes bad. I could go on for hours about porsche's I've owned probably 20 of them
thank you for your time and fast response I have never worked on a porsche and bought the is for a project i just need to know witch injector if you know I have a question i don't notice if the fuel pump is coming on?
t hank you very much what do you think the chances are of a bad relay to the pump?
fuel flow is easy to see.; Pull of the gas line coming into the injector rail and see if it pumps fuel into a glass. there wont be a lot of pressure maybe a 1/2 cup a minute. The fuel pump relay turns on to charge the system when starting and then turns the fuel pump off, when the engine starts the relay turns the fuel pump on. The tank fuel pump is on all the time. I think.
