It was a slick move by the politicians from farm country to drive the cost of a bushel of corn to record prices. Now food and gas are expensive as hell. I just saw E-85 for $2.85 a gallon the other day.........But I live in Nebraska so that may make a difference
Yeah that does make the difference. It is still over $4 here. That is strange because in Superior there is Murphy Oil, the only WI refinery. They won't supply us here in town. We get our supply from some other locations states away.
If everyone was using it, it would be more than gas. And our food prices would soar. Farmland for food or fuel, you choose.
Truth is that even though ethanol is made from corn, it can be made from dozens of other types of vegetation not in the food chain. It can be made from mollasses. This didn't answer the question though. Is it priced fairly or a scam?
E-85 can only be sold as E-85. Normal gas can only have up to 10% ethanol.Ethanol has less energy than gas, so you get much worse mileage with it, so it should be priced less.
At least you see what I am seeing. M&H sells the lowest priced E-85 in the TwinPorts region. The pumps have the E-85 info on them but the station's billboard displaying the prices call it unleaded gas. And yes you are right. I get something like -20% mileage efficiency using E-85. This means I have to buy an additional +20% in volume of fluid to get the same mileage I get using real gas.
