I'd much rather have a Bentley, thank you--I've heard about those deusenbergs--isn't that where they got the phrase "what a doozy" from to explain that something's a disaster.
Not quite. Duesenberg was the American answer to the high end european luxury marques back during the Depression and was such a good company that it often times beat them out. Calling something a 'Dusie' is actually to say that something is stunning. It is supposed to in reference to something of supreme quality, but, now it has been put in place for anything that seems over the top.
Okay--I stand corrected. But, I'd still rather have a Bentley, although I'd need a chauffeur to go with it--I don't drive.
I should probobly have asked 'classic' Bentleys. They drove like fire trucks. The Dusies often came with the first front wheel drive system which often mitigated the need for power steering, which wasn't really used until the '50's.
Saying sometrhing is a Dusie, IS from the car name.
Neither,A Ford or a Caddy will do just fine.
Me too. I have a CTS, an '08.
Dear Thess,As for me, I would rather have a Duesy! My family drove back from Chicago a couple of years ago and we ended up in Auburn, Indiana and went to the factory showroom museum. We spent several hours there. We had just seen the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio, and guess what, they had his car there! Cream and bright orange. I had seen a Duesenberg in the old Harrah's Auto Museum in Sparks, and thought they were beautiful cars even then, but we just stumbled across this museum. I highly recommend it for car lovers. And the factory is a lovely example of Art Deco is that strikes your fancy. I liked the building as much or better than the cars.
