No. I think unemployment is higher here (10%) than most other states. This is the first state to had been hit by the housing bubble, collapse, etc, etc.

i think its about 14% locally where i live, but basically from what i have seen rental is only slightly higher in florida, as long as your not looking in a tourist trap.

Yeah well, don't expect that to stick. WHen I came here 3 years ago, a regular 1 bedroom apartment was around $1,000/month. I don't mean a super nice one, just your average, everyday apartment. Now it has gone down to closer to $600. But those prices won't stay. Go to Detroit. I hear the cost of living there is close to zero now. :)

I'm not from Florida, but I heard on the news the other day that Florida has the highest unemployment in the nation. Then again it probably depends on the kind of work you're looking for and what your skills are. In any case, Good Luck.
