when I wrote my book, I was averaging between 2 and 4 pages a day. My problem was a very non-supportive husband, but at times there were days that I just couldn't let him interfere, so I wrote everything down in a notebook. on those particular days I really started writing (really fun, because then it had to be put on the computer). there were, however, certain days that all I did was research. Although it was a subject I knew well, I needed to be completely accurate when speaking about specifics
I'm finding that a lot of people would rather support me as a person than me as a self employed person; does it come with the turf?
I don't know, to tell the truth. Everything about my husbad was...my husband. As long as I was serving him, everything was hunky dory, but when i was doing something for myself, I was wasting time. My book is now in the process of being published, and he wishes he were there to get in on the goods, but guess what? I got tired of it. I am also a free-lance translator, working for myself. I have no problems with my roommate--he thinks it's great.
I am a also a writer. I can tell you that it varies greatly. Some people write many pages a day, others write only 2. My rule is to write until the words stop saying what i want them to say. Research is always good, but i am not sure you need to balance your writing with your research. You only need to make sure that your research backs up your writing.
Words generally keep saying what I didn't mean them to say! :)
