Vehicle Level Brakes and Traction Control Disc Brake System Brake Pad Service and Repair Rear
Rear Disc Brakes
REMOVAL
Remove a sufficient amount of fluid from brake fluid reservoir to prevent an overflow when retracting caliper pistons.
Raise and support vehicle.
Remove wheel and tire assemblies.
Remove guide pin.
Remove caliper locating pin cover, then caliper locating pin.
Lift caliper from friction pads and anchor frame assembly.
INSTALLATION
Using rear caliper piston adjuster T87P-2588-A, or equivalent, rotate caliper piston clockwise until fully seated. Position one piston slot so it will engage nib on rear of brake pad.
Ensure all locating pin, guide pin, caliper and anchor frame mounting and sliding surfaces are clean and free of residues.
Place inner and outer pads into position on anchor frame.
Place caliper into position on anchor frame.
Apply a suitable thread lock compound to mounting threads of locating pin, then apply a suitable brake lubricant to sliding surface of locating pin.
Install and tighten locating pin to specifications.
Install guide pin locking into place with suitable cotter pin.
Install wheel and tire assemblies, lower vehicle, then tighten lug nuts to 62 ft lb.
Apply brake pedal and parking brake several times to adjust rear brakes. Adjust parking brake cable if necessary.

Drum Brakes
Remove brake drum.
Remove brake shoe hold down springs and brake shoe hold down spring pins.
Remove brake shoe retracting springs.
Disengage parking brake rear cable and conduit from parking brake lever.
Remove brake shoes. Remove parking brake return spring. Disengage rear brake strut and quadrant from shoe.
Remove parking brake cable and conduit from parking brake cable anchor on trailing brake shoe.
