Whats a good reliable car for under $2500.

MaggieD:

Good, reliable and under $2,500 don't go together. My best advice would be to go to a hometown dealer and buy something off the lot with an extended warranty. Most reputable dealers auction off the lemons they know they have because they don't want to damage their reputation by selling a junk. Good luck.

Himalayan style:

I wanna say toyota, honda, nissan but for the price you will also need a mechanic to evaluate.
My wife bought a 93 Civic for $2500.00 from our former babysitter had just been overhauled running pretty good all we've done is oil change and new added new tires.

Guitarist:

There is no specific make of car that you'll find to be more or less reliable than another for that cost.
Listen to the engine,....test the brakes and see if it grinds or pulls when applied. Does it accelerate well ? Drive it long enough to watch the gauges and see if the temp gauge reads in the normal range, or if the oil gauge shows adequate pressure. Drive over a bumpy road and listen for odd sounds.
Mileage used to be a good indicator, but the later model cars these days will often go a long time before they are worn out.
Don't buy an old sports car,.....it's probably been driven real hard.
And for Gods sake,...don't kick the tires,...LOL
Listen,...listen,...listen,....the sounds you hear will tell you what you need to know.

Dvenz:

Take a look here, it might help.

Make an informed buying decision by investigating these rankings before heading to the dealership.

I have a Lumina too, and it's been a great car. Get one with the 3.8 motor in it.

Preshyboo:

I have learned with cars that you get what you pay for, but in answer to your question i have also heard by more than one that Hondas and Toyotas are very reliable.

All4Jesus:

if you have to be tight on the price the best car for 2,500 is a chevy lumina because they run good even if you beat them to hell. ive wrecked mine three times and jumped it twice, still runnin good.

All4Jesus:

chevy lumina, beat them to hell and they still run good. ive put my lumina threw worst things possible and its still runnin
