take a mechanics course!! sillly girl!!men are turned on by agirl that knows a muffler from a sparkplug!!
If you give some more information about what year and engine you have, that would help a lot. Start with the basics first- make sure you have good fuel and ignition spark. If the car has sat for anthing close to a year, You'll have to get rid of that gas (it can go bad,) and get some fresh fuel in it. Then test to see if you are getting fuel presure up to the engine. Although it is important to know if you are getting the correct pressure by attaching a guage (which some auto parts places will loan or rent,) you can start with turning the engine over for about 10 sec. and then turn it off, remove the air cleaner or air intake hose, hold the throttle open and check if you smell any gas. If you do then check to see if you are getting spark to the spark plugs. Pull off a plug wire and either pull back the boot to expose the metal connector, if the boot is solid stick a philipps screwdriver into it- then being careful not to touch an metal. hold the connector or the edge of the screwdriver about an1/8 inch away from the top of the spark plug. If your ignition system is working a strong spark should jump across. Try these two things and then repost with the results of that and a lot more information about the car and, if you know, how the car acted prior to it not running. If you find out you have good fuel and good fuel presure and a strong spark, then you can start with some basic engine diagnostics like a compression check, examining the spark plugs and doing a basic static timing check to make sure the engine good.
I don't know how much experience you've had working on cars, but just in case you're a beginer- I forgot to say that while checking the spark, have someone turn over the engine while you're checking for spark. Another thing you can do too is get a 12V tester and check any fusible links and also check all the fuses you can find inside the car and in the engine compartment. Good luck
Take it to the junkyard ! :)
That's not always easy to do . Maybe the guy wants to accomplish getting the car running. I know what hard work and frustration it can be. It's a good feeling to know YOU did it!
Get a new one.
put some gas in it
toss it
If you really want that car (good car) try your best, it takes time. Ask someone who really knows mechanics. I'll ask for suggestions and get back to you.
