Well, guess she'd better go pay the piper. They probably towed it from the street into their impound yard. She obviously didn't see a need to pick it up...so now she's probably racked up some big-time charges. Those impound lots aren't cheap -- and most are regulated by the state as to how much they can charge.
Say you were in California, it would probably be outragous compared to somewhere like Kentucky.

There will also be a fee for towing the car, and a seperate fee if the tow truck driver had to get out the broom and sweep up debri. Sometimes you can sign over the title, to the tow yard for the expenses.
