I accidently hit a car (a nice car!) it was just a rear end tap, only 1 tiny little bump of damage. The driver of the other car saw me crying and decided to calm me down. Told me his dad was a insurance agent, he called his father and discussed some issues. Idk what he was saying. There were no witnesses, and it took place in a parking lot. Unfortunalty i have horrible brakes, and it was a complete accident. I was not on my phone or any other rubish. He told me 10min after he inspected his car that he doesnt see any damage other than that 1 dent. and told me to go home, he doesnt want me to be introuble and doesnt want to ruin my weekend. I asked him if i was off the hook while crying? He said, dont worry about, dont worry. Just be careful.this took place in ny.
lol I think we just posted at the same time. For all you know dear the dent could have been there from before. He is going to have a hard time proving anything except a phone call to his dad. Don't worry about it. Just count your blessings that you bumped into such a nice person. Have a good one. :)
I think he thought i was cute, maybe he let me off cuz I was a nice cute girl. and he was a cute rich guy from the hamptons.
New York ???????? Uh oh ...... you're dead meat. Just kidding.I wouldn't worry about it. If it was as innocuous as you say, you've got no problem.
Depends on the state laws, if pictures were taken, insurance policies, etc.If you did the rear ending that person is usually at fault. If they have no info, you may be in the clear as long as there were no witnesses. You have to live with yourself...
Peace is right, but I just wanted to add that it also depends on the driving conditions at the time. Like ice, snow, or rain. Also the time of day or night. If you didn't exchange any personal information, then you are probably in the clear. Sounds like it was just a little bump. And both agreed to just let it go. If that is the case, and then one changes their mind and decides that yes there is indeed damage they are going to have a real hard time trying to prove anything to anybody. I wouldn't worry about it now if it were me.
seems to me that person is stuck... if that one has no info for the other driver how would one even find that person again...
They'd have to find you first, lol! If there was no exchange of info and no police report, then there is no proof of the accident. It's as if it never happened. Believe me, it's the best way to go if it's minor, because no one's insurance goes up!
I would let the insurance companies handle it. I would at this time notify my insurance company and explain the situation and let the company deal with it. If you did it you do not want to lie about it and say you did not but you will be on solid ground with the fact that he said there was no damage but now is trying to say there is. You were not generally responsible to report the bump if there was no property damage or injury and that is what you were told. Did either of you have a witness with you? Mainly let your insurance company deal with it as most likely his insurance company will be calling your company anyway and you are required to give out that information or who you have insurance with.
You be out of luck FancyP's, best to always take down plate number at very least. How could you find driver with no info anyway?
You usualy have up to three years to sue from the accident, regardless of what was said at the scene.
