Toyota is a much hyped car in the USA, in other Countries it performs poorly and rusts out really fast.
For some reason it has a cult following in the USA so people who know no better buy them, figuring they will be a good car.

Not true monkey face! Bland yes, reliable with high resale, also yes. I've had four, 3 Camry's and now an Avalon. Zero problems, highly recommended.

Yes, Fords are not known for their quality, particularly in the USA - but neither are GM's cars. However, they are not the most reliable cars around - Honda narrowly beats them in new cars and thrashes them in the secondhand market. Brands such as Kia, Hyundai and Daewoo come dead last in terms of quality - shoddy Korean vehicles
