a ticket?... where i live, they would impound your vehicle... until you insured it, registered it and paid the impound fees... and only released back to you, if you havea license... wow!
Probably at least a thousand dollars...perhaps closer to two thousand. Registration is not a local violation and is at the State level and the insurance as well. In NY if you let either expire you are in deep. The insurance in part is paying for insurance through the state for the entire lapse of your coverage at a rate about three times what it would have cost to have it in force through your own policy.
The *fine* in part is paying for the insurance...
