In your opinion, Why do you think is a good idea to save some money for a rainy day? Explain.

What do you suggest is a good method or way to save. In your opinion, what do you suggest people can do to accumulate enough money for a rainy day? ps. I mean little people like you and me, such as inner city every day folks.
2 Cents:

If you're just starting to save money, try this for a month: Every night empty the change and one-dollar bills into a can or box or something. DO NOT OPEN IT, for 30 days. If it is a 31 day month, you can open it after 30 days of saving. Then count it, and you will see you have amassed a lot of money, hopefully.
Then, do it again. After two months, divide the total by two, and try putting that much a month into a special savings account.. they used to have Christmas Clubs at banks, which was a good way to save money for Christmas.

Another thing is to do without. If you are thirsty, drink a nice glass of ice cold water, instead of a soda. If you dine out, then ask for water.. most places it is free. Beverages are usually added to the bill of the food, not included with the food. If you dine out, look at the cheaper stuff to eat, save your banquets for really special occasions. If you go to, say a fish and chips place, order the 2 pieces of fish instead of the three. Order a single burger instead of the double. Lots of little ways to save.
Cancel your newspaper subscription, read the news on the internet. You can usually get your local paper on the net, or the nearest large city for the news.
All those monies you have not spent can be put into the BOX.
After while, saving will come naturally. Good luck.

It's good to save money for a rainy day for one solid reason: Fire.

If you save your money and keep it dry in your pocket, you can be certain that you will still have that money to use as kindling, and maybe dry out some logs for a nice, warm fire.

All World economics are based on this principle.

Big Z:

...funny...!!!

Johnny:

Love that answer, gets my vote.

AltF4:

True a nice warm fire is a nice thing. I agree.

AltF4:

Its a sad thing to know that here in our USA many families can't afford to have good heat to warm their homes during the winter.
Unbelievable but real. People in 3rd world countries are better of then some people here in inner cities at least they don't have to worry about the winter because their countries are always warm.
Gives you some thing to think about.

CAHOON!:

Rain is a good way to find out your roof leaks it cost money to fix it.
Hey save the dollar you spend on a bus and walk the 20 blocks to the office. or If you drive buy a ticket on mass transit and save on gas. or buy a bike and ride to work. Put the savings aside.
You'll be healthier also.
There are other ways like not going out to eat lunch packing one is cheaper bring your drinks also.

AltF4:

I like your answer, and yes it cost money to fix the roof.
I am Glad We Got to fix ours not too long ago.

My husband and I cannot save, if we have it we want to spend it, so my husband opened a savings account at a different bank other than our regular one and he had $25 go directly from his check to the bank, out of sight out of mind, and it worked, we were able to save enough money to go on a mini vacation! :)

AltF4:

Thanks for your answer. I think is a great idea, and i am going to try it myself.
Blessed Be.

Shanene:

With the cost of food, gas and everything else going up and up what would be the income amount that would allow you to save hmmmmm? I know, don't watch tv surf the internet read magazines and look at billboards because of the temptations of buying something in the ad's. The other part of your question should be income. Someone making $35000 and bought their home 30 years ago for $25000 and someone who makes $35000 today and bought their home for $150000. I think the way things are going if you make under a certain amount consider living in a tent, that is if it's under a $100 a night to set it up. FOR YOUR QUESTION you need to save money for patches.

AltF4:

I really like your question. The real deal is that in inner Cities every day little people don't make 100 dollars a day unless you own your own Business. Hey and that includes me.

Exploit:

Yes, it is always a good idea to save and make it as painless as possible. Some people believe that saving is the same as denial or delayed gratification. In some ways and for others it is, but you can do it with a bit of strategy.
One good way to do this is by using this free service specifically for USA homeowners. You'll pay off your mortgage without increasing the cost of the payment 300% (3 times) faster than paying monthly and make room for spending on other things or for emergencies when necessary. It's 100% satisfaction guaranteed and a member in good standing with the Better Business Bureau. Check it out! Visit http://www.eMortgageManager.net

This is one excellent way to accumulate lots of money in equity for a rainy day. I've tried it and it works!

It works for inner city folks, rural or anyone as long as there is a mortgage that's involved.

AltF4:

Thanks for the advice, I will check that web page.
Blessed Be.

Rick:

You make more money by investing wisely. Set asside an amount you can live without and invest in the stock market. There are some great buy out there.

?SugarBabe:

Very good idea as rainy days can become flood days and since you've been saving all this time you probably neglected to purchase flood insurance which you will regret, however you can use the money you saved to start over. $B

?SugarBabe:

One more thing, you may have heard that Jesus saves, Moses invests. $B

TravisDaGangsta:

Id say the best way to save is to have an allotment go directly from your paycheck to a savings account. I personally have a hard time saving money if I have it in my hand or see it in my checking account. Believe it or not, $25-$50 a paycheck can add up quick.
