The squealing may be coming from another source. A worn pulley can cause the squealing with a new belt. It could also be a worn bearing in an Idler pulley. You can buy belt treatment at the auto parts store that may stop the squeak but this is usually a temporary fix. You may find having to sparay the belts every few day more of a pain than the cost of fixing the problem correctly.
Hello reekus:Yes there is, It is called belt dressing it comes in a small spray can, One can will last a lifetime.Just go back to NAPA and ask.Regards
i only know basic car stuff, lately my belts have been squealing too, it usually happens on a cold day, i though it might be because of the weather, the extreme old, the rubber of the fan belt, etc, but i do know there is a spray as the others above answered. now, since it hasn't been as cold as it was when the noise happened, the belts haven't squealed again.?
I always try bar soap. Be careful when you hold it against the belt. You could lose a finger.
The belt could be too tight. 1/4 inch "play" is recommended for V-belts.
