Mac....Of Moot and Mac
Since oil companies are making profit(they are businesses), wouldn't it be better for all of us if
they didn"t make profits?

What on earth are you talking about? Have you never had a job? Do you think the paltry $3.50 per gallon pays the expenses to get the oil,refine the oil, ship the oil, repair the refinery, pay the workers, explore for new oil, keep the workers safe in these 3rd world countries, pay insurance for all the mentioned costs?
A 747 gets 750feet to the gallon, there are thousands of flights every day. We are not the only country using oil. These companies are multinationals. Stop driving your car for a few weeks and the oil companies will thank you for freeing up some oil they can sell for higher prices elsewhere. But your federal and state taxes may increase as they tax the hell out of the gas we buy.
All the plastic surrounding the computers we're banging on are petro-chemical products, most of the electricity produced in this country uses oil to heat the water used to spin the turbines.

Only when cars no longer depend on gasoline and cold fusion produces all of our domestic energy...but then, the price of oil may get so low in price that every one will want to switch back...to the good old days!!!
