I have a job interview today but dont feel well, what is the best way/excuse to reschedule

urgent!!!
Mountain Goat:

The best "excuse" would be the truth. I'm sure they've heard it all. Better to be honest. How terrible do you feel? If you can manage to shower and get dressed, you should go. It will show them how dedicated you are. I once went to an interview with a rash all over my face (that's what I get for playing with a lovebird. allergic to feathers!)! Got the job!! Good luck!!!

Qwe:

I was in the same boat as you this past Monday. I had an AM interview scheduled and was up most of the night before with a fever which, in the morning, turned into vomiting etc. I seriously considered calling to cancel but I knew that I would be putting my chances of getting this job in jeopardy if I did that.

Of course, things happen and you can't magically reverse the fact that you are truly sick, but you have to weigh the pro's and con's.

Are you sick enough that it might compromise your composure or your ability to perform at the interview?

Can you take any medication that might temporarily alleviate some of your symptoms so that you can at least attend the interview? (This is pretty much what I did and for me, it was successful.)

If you are really not up to attending then, as the others mentioned, honesty is your best bet. But, in my opinion, you should really make an attempt to attend and possibly even mention the fact that you feel ill but did not want to pass up this opportunity.

Good luck!!

STVRZ:

If what you mean by not feeling well is feeling sick, then just tell them that. If you mean that you are nervous, just remember that even if you don't get this job, if you're a good worker, there will be plenty of jobs that you can get.

FRKeefe:

Are you truly ill? Be completely honest with yourself. Or are you just nervous? Or perhaps you do not want this job if it is offered. If you are truly ill, call the person you have the appointment with, be honest and ask for another appointment. However, if you want this position, do whatever it takes to attend the interview and put your best foot forward. To cancel or reschedule is not setting a good precedent especially if other qualified people are available for the job.

Nathaniel:

Well canceling the day of the interview,is not a good way to start with this company, call them and tell them whatever you feel is acceptable and truthful, maybe you are just nervous, have a friend or family member take you to your interview, and talk to them about this and try to stay focused.
