What is managerial prerogative?

Can you also give me an example? I don't understand how the NLRB can be involved with it before immediate management levels.

Here's a definition: Managerial Prerogative: "An employer’s right to organize its work arrangements in such a way so as to ensure the most efficient operation of its business." A company may exercise its managerial prerogative in order to require that a software expert be on call weekends for emergency situations. Managerial Prerogatives are always balanced against worker's rights, unreasonable demands, and NLRB rules and regulations.
