Actually Virtual ram has very little to-do with physical memory (directly).
Purchasing additional memory could solve this problem, but the real cause of this is a setting under "My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Performance | Settings | and let Windows choose what's best" - If the error is still occurring, then you'd have to verify that you have plenty of space left on your local HD (by "My Computer | Local Disk (C:) | Properties | and viewing Free Space") If Free Space is less than 15% of your Total Size, then you could run into some problems.
That being said, BMC was correct that purchasing additional RAM may solve the problem, you really need to understand the root of the problem prior to just spending money.
So if you could answer those few extra questions, and then explain what you are typically doing when this happens, it may only require some basic Maintenance stuff.

start-settings-control panel-system, at performance, click on settings, on performance options, click on advanced, then at the bottom youll find virtual memory, increase the size, (just double the number in the box).
what this does is increase the amount of space, without the pc having to bounce back and forth between this memory and the hard drive, which takes time, slowing down the machine.
if you are running into this you are using too much for your machine, you need to close down programs, run as little as possible at any one time. start learning out how to increase RAM by adding a new card with more capacity, its not difficult, and you can get a card fairly inexpensive from price busters. get the info on your machine then go window shopping...shouldnt cost more than $40, closer to $30 if you look around, thats with shipping....

Well - not exactly in a few minutes, it does require some research and knowledge on how to replace it and then understanding whether or nor your machine can handle more memory etc.
Typically this is something that can be done rather quickly, but only the "purchasing" part can be done in a few minutes. There's not a single person on the planet that can replace memory in a computer within a few minutes from the start of a virtual memory error, determining the Hardware, verify computer configuration, go to web site, purchase memory - verify that the memory is valid for your machine, have it delivered, then open machine and replace current memory, then finally making sure that your BIOs handles the change memory properly. Then, if the machine is older than most, determining if a BIOs update is necessary.
