another thought for the day the gorvernment are putting a bill in for asbos for children who between

the ages of 16-18 dont go to school. at the moment children go to school till 16 years old and if they want further education they choose if they want to stay another 2 years with this bill are they taking away childrens free will to do what they want hence giving them more reason to rebel? your views please
Jack:

Your question is incoherent, but appears to be about some legislation to keep kids in school and remove their "fre(dom)".

First off, parents have a responsibility to maintain some manner of control over thier children until they reach the age of majority. If they are that self-absorbed, irresponsible, or ignorant of proper parenting skills, they ought to have kept their damned legs together!

Secondly, the less govenment intrudes into our daily lives the better. Having said that, if the parents are unwilling or unable to do their jobs correctly, it is a public good for them to step in and administer some of the discipline that is obviously lacking in a household that is unable to maintain some semblence of control over its minor children. Therefore, the children should be mandated to attend school (not necessarily a misguided government school, either) until the age of majority, wheather the like it or not.

Children -- a person who has not yet reached the age of majority -- have only limited "rights". It is the responsibility of their parents to attend to their whimsical wishes until then. If the parents are unable or unwilling to do so, the child should be removed to an orphanage, foster home, or other facility (correctional in nature, if necessary) where their activities may be more closely monitored, and disciple dispensed accordingly.

Don't get me wrong, I like a good rebel as much as the next guy, but children are children and need to understand societal rules ... if they expect to reach adulthood. ;-)

1stly it is not incoherent this question is saying that legally the children now leave school at 16 here and the powers that be are thinking of putting it up to 18 when most children have learnt all they can learn by that point. at 16 they get to choose if they want to do something or stay on at school if this legislation is passed they will not have the choice to do that its not only discriminating at the youths who are born trouble-makers its also targeting children who have learnt everthing so my question was: is this going to take away their freedom of choice and will the "smart ones" decide to rebel as well as the uninformed children. i should of said teenagers then you might of understood. it is also understanding that more and more "children" are brighter these days and hence dont need another 2 years at school but if this is put through and a child of 16 decides to do somthing they could be given an A.S.B.O that is an anti social behavour order which if you get three of these you end up in jail!!! so can you see what i am asking here i am the mother of a child who is exceptionally bright and the prospect that she would get an asbo just because she wanted to be out there doing the thing that she wants to do makes me think why. that is why i ask this question i will get of my soap box now. hope you didnt mind and may god bless you always
