Nope, but I have taken part in the homeless census conducted on the streets overnights in winter here.
All should remember, they are people: They are the father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister of somneone.
Some have failed; others haunted by a bottle or needle; plenty have held high posts or carry college degrees.
Yes, I've sat in their homemade leanto of materials tossed from construction sites and had coffee heated by a discarded microwave which is powered by a hot splice from a city light pole.
Did I mention they are people too?

The isssues of the poor and homeless stretch far beyond the Holidays.

I did once in Lakeland Florida..many homeless there before. The city officials used to chase them out of the park, some of us did it in protest.

Thankfully I have never been homeless....I have such bad asthma I would not make it overnight in some locations if the temperature dropped too low. They would have me in the hospital and then I would be far worse off than before if I were homeless...homeless with medical bills...

It can't be easy and there are people just like me who are out there with health problems that are at risk all the time and sometimes even the reason they cannot afford housing.

Sad but true MJM and we take care of other countries before our own. I could do without a few shuttle voyages and satellites to mars and planets we we won't be able to inhabit most likely anyway.

I go camping once a year, and that's sorta what it's like to be homeless in New Hampshire.

I am not a good camper but I know that I would not fare well if I had to camp for more than 24 hours... I am so grateful that I am not having to live off of the street.

And in January NOBODY fares well living on the street. Winter has a cruel way of weeding out the homeless.
