I bought a 1936 Indian motorcycle with no title. How do I obtain a title?

You bought nothing. Without title you do not own it. You need to get it from the person that sold it to you.

HUEY:

Go to Department of Motor Vehicle and request a title. You will need to include ID numbers off of bike could be on motor or frame. Could say worked on for individual and who didn't pay and didn't come back to pick up. Also need to put a mechanic lien against it. Mechanics get titles on cars that they have worked on and not get paid for all the time.
May or may not have had titles back then. In that case a bill of sale may work to get the title.

have to have a bill of sell , vin numbers and apply for a salvage title.DMV will give you all the info you need.

If you have a "bill of sale" let the dept of driver services run the vin numbers. If they are clear you can apply for a title.
