I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses! At age 14 my mother past away & to add insult to grief I had to sit through what I think they call the “Rosary”. The father kept chanting over, an over, an over, an over again “blessed our thy among women ...” or something or the other. Anyway this just about drove me insane. This ritual gave me no comfort whatsoever. Later when I was 16 years old I learned of the resurrection hope from my neighbor, of the prospect of seeing my mother again resurrected to life on the paradise earth, an he actually showed it to me from the Bible! It touched me so deeply I wept. I knew I had found the truth, an I excepted a Bible study from my neighbor (one of Jehovah's Witnesses) .That was 27 Years ago & I've been learning an applying Bible truth ever since, to the best of my ability. ( This is not a condemnation of any particular faith, But is just an expression of my personal experience.)

2:135 AND THEY say, "Be Jews" - or, "Christians" - "and you shall be on the right path." Say: "Nay, but [ours is] the creed of abraham, who turned away from all that is false, [110] and was not of those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God." 5:82 Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are christians": because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.2:62 VERILY, those who have attained to faith [in this divine writ], as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and the Christians, and the sabians [49] -all who believe in God and the last day and do righteous deeds-shall have their reward with their Sustainer; and no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve. 2:6 BEHOLD, as for those who are bent on denying the truth [6] - it is all one to them whether thou warnest them or dost not warn them: they will not believe. 2:113 Furthermore, the jews assert, "The Christians have no valid ground for their beliefs," while the Christians assert, "The jews have no valid ground for their beliefs" - and both quote the divine writ! Even thus, like unto what they say, have [always] spoken those who were devoid of knowledge;" [93] but it is God who will judge between them on Resurrection Day with regard to all on which they were wont to differ.61:14 O ye who believe! Be ye helpers of Allah. As said Jesus the son of Mary to the Disciples, "Who will be my helpers to (the work of) Allah." Said the disciples, "We are Allah's helpers!" then a portion of the Children of Israel believed, and a portion disbelieved. But We gave power to those who believed, against their enemies, and they became the ones that prevailed.
I am Pagan, more specifically, a WitchThese are some of the reasons I have the faith I do:I have found that through this belief, I've learned a lot about myself, and the world around me. One of the things I've learned is that I've got a LOT more TO learn. It might sound corny but when I found this faith, it felt like coming home. I've also discovered that the worlds' faiths seem to have many more things in common than they have that are different.
toto land? does that mean youre from kansas? i live in wichita...anyway, to answer your question... i am of no religion... i am an atheist... i believe gods are the construct of mans inability to explain his surroundings and resistance to accept death...i came to this realization after decades of studying religion, science, history, culture and philosophy...
what do you mean toto land?but yes i am also from wichita kansas
oh somebody above asked you how toto land was... cool... i live in riverside park...
I am an agnostic. I currently find the precepts of Buddhism as interesting. Also, the Vedic religion seems interesting but I have doubts about the caste system and the treatment of women in the faith.
Independent Baptist. It is the only group that can trace it's lineage back to the Church started by Jesus.I came to this realization after decades of studying religion, science, history, culture and philosophy...
and youre still religious?...;)
Yeah, that isn't right wolfeman. The Catholic church was THE Christian church until the Great Schism. Baptist didn't appear until 1612 when they branched off of Anabaptist (which branched from Roman Catholic). Your teachings may be the closest...but you can't trace the actual church back since it didn't exist yet.
Buenare, no one can claim Apostolic succesion. The first Christians had no church, no Bible, all they had was groups of Christians in peoples homes.
Catholic church didn't start until 300 AD aprox. It was started by the state and composed of individual churches the state aquired and gave power to. Those that didn't go along were persecuted and attacked. AnaBaptist were around before the catholic church. Montanist, Donatist, Petrobrussians ect.
actually some say peter started the catholic church, others say paul did... either way, your 300ad date is wrong because the term catholic came from Ignasus of Antioch who first coined the name, which means universal... but the teachings are rooted straight to jesus... anabnaptists most likely arose from the catholic faith... they were actually considered extremists and most likely originated in germany... your data is way off... i studied offshoots of christianity for years...
Jesus Christ starwolf, is there anything about Christianity you don't know?
Peter is credited with being the Pastor of the Church at Jerusalem and thru some creative interpretation and rewriting of the Bible (thanks to Constantine and Origen) the Catholic claim him to be the first pope.Paul was a missionary sent out by that church to start other churches but never were the churches he helped start under any form of control from the church at Jerusalem. It should also be noted that before he changed his name to Paul, he persecuted the Christians for the Jewish religious leaders to try and stop them, which caused the spread of christianity outside of Jerusalem. The Catholic Church was not actually founded until around 300AD by the Roman Emperor Constantine. Before this some of the early individual churches (mostly home churches) started to gather around larger city churches. This led to electing a bishop to preside over the collection. (Which was not supported by other churches in the area) This made for easy pickings when Constantine united the churches under state rule because of the connections to each other.AnaBaptist (a generic term eventually for those groups who did not submit to a collection of churches or a universal church) did not arise out of the catholic church but arose in opposition to it. You are correct however in that they were considered extremists. You fail to mention however that it was the catholic church that made this determination (and eventually the protestant churches as well when they again failed to support a unified collection or state run church) and who tried to erase everything about them except what they had writen. You would believe the same of the Jewish people during WWII if all you read was the Nazi propaganda and failed to understand it was written from only one point of view.
oh jesus... did i mention i was groomed to be a priest till i was 17...lol... wolf your right, they were considered extremists from the catholic church but your dates are wrong... simon peter, from the direction of jesus started the catholic church... thats why jesus called peter the rock, a solid ground to establish his church... this was around 28 to 30ad... not 300ad...and the anabaptists probably originated in germany... far from israel, and a long time later... more like the 1500's...as for constantine, you have it wrong... he didnt form the catholic church, he established it as a super power... he revitalized christianity because it was declining then...
He called Peter a pebble and himself a rock. Petros and Petra. Upon this rock, not the pebble. Jesus started the Church (correct, not as some teach in Acts 2) with Himself as the foundation. If Peter were the foundation it would be based upon man and therefore fallible. There would be no way the gates of hell would NOT be able to prevail against it.I again point out that anabaptist became a generic term around the 1500's or so. It was first used (by the catholic church) around 550ad to describe the practice of rebaptizing anyone who wanted to join their church because of the unscriptural way they had been baptized before. Before then they were called Montanist, Novations, Donatists, Cathari etc. with the Montanist being mentioned as early as 200ad.Constantine did not revitalize christianity but because it was spreading so quickly and so thruoughly, he found a way to control it and use it to his benefit because it was becoming a threat to Rome.
I am a Non-Denominational Christian minister. I provide non-denominational services to nursing homes. I do let them know that I practice the Christian faith so they can choose to attend or not....but services are designed to be uplifting for all not just people of particular faiths.Over 300 prophecies have been given in the Old Testament prior to the arrival of Christ on Earth. Each one of them have been fulfilled perfectly by the birth and life of Christ. The chances of this happening by chance cannot be calculated.I have also seen and been involved in hundreds of thousands of unexplainable situations that can only be attributed to God.That is why I choose my particular faith.
I'm not of any religions...or at least not any organized religion. I'm agnostic because I don't believe in the teachings of any of the other religions...I think they fail to use logic. Of course, the religions that believe the earth is only 6000 years old shy me away from religion even further because that notion is just wrong.
to think some people still hold blindly the archaic nonsensical doctrines as truth... may as well worship the sun...
Sun worship...well at least you would be worshipping something that exist I suppose.
I WAS BAPTIZED LUTHERAN AS A BABY, BUT NEVER WENT TO CHURCH MUCH GROWING UP.IN 2001, MY BOYFRIEND & I STARTED GOING TO A NON DENOMINATIONAL CHURCH. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!I AM A CHRISTIAN, BUT I DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN CHURCH'S BECAUSE THE LAST ONE WAS TRULY A CHRISTIAN CULT!I AM A CHRISTIAN BECAUSE I CAN REMEMBER AS A VERY SMALL CHILD, LOOKING IN THE BIBLE AND SOMEHOW I JUST FELT GOD IN MY HEART. AND SOMEHOW I UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE PICTURES OF JESUS ON THE CROSS MEANT WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO READ OR BEING TOLD.
None and why not?X)

I've always wanted to be a witch... white witch (I think)I don't know much about it though.?And I totally agree about all the worlds faiths having more things in common than not.
