I would recommend picking up a CHilton's manual at a local auto parts store. They cost about $15 and will lay bare the mysteries of your vehicle. ;-)

V-6? 305? not likely, if it's a 305 it's a v8 and the filter will be in the air cleaner, looks like a piece of dirty white scotch brite pad. don't forget to replace the PCV valve on the other end of that hose while you are at it.
