i changed the airfilter alrdy anything else that might be causing this?

5.4mpg? How are you able to calculate it to the tenth of a mile?

If it was sucking that much fuel you would certainly see a cloud of black smoke out the pipes and it would probably run like ass.

Check your tires, make sure they have air in them, aside from that, it's time to head to your nearest Lincoln dealer for a diagnostic scan. I seriously doubt your economy is that bad.

Clogged fuel injectors(you don't tell us other problems).What other service work has been done?Have you not done the scheduled maintenance?Before going to Lincoln dealers services shop,look to somethings yourself.Save money.This is V6 or the 3.9 DOHC V8?They have trouble,at this point in service life.How many miles,heavy driving use?Brakes been serviced,look for brakes rotors condition.Wheels bearings.torque converter.

I must have other issues or you have made an error in your calculations, only other reason might be the fuel is leaking down onto the ground

if its the v8, you definitely need new valve springs and a flush.. maybe even gaskets. gas is definitely leaking right out the exhaust out the tail pipe, you can check this by putting a cup under the tailpipe and revving the engine for a while, then smell the cup see if theres gas in it.
