My car stopped taking gas when I was driving and I had to coast to pull over, whats wrong?

When I was driving I shifted to another speed and the car made a humming noise when I pressed on the gas pedal and the car lost accelaration. I tried different gears but it didn't seem to be getting any gas. What may be wrong?

I had the same experience last Monday. A mechanic friend from church came to my rescue and determined it was the fuel pump. He replaced it, the filter, screen, etc. As he was taking it to my house today, he had about the same problem at the same spot in the road.

Fuel pump? May want to take it in and see what is wrong with a trusty mechanic. Good luck! :D

Thank you so much! I took it in to a chain shop and I hope that they are good. I was afraid that I may have screwed something up cause I haven't had an iol change in a quite some time.

check your alternator belt,it might of came off, or it might be bad, the alternator gives your battery power back, when you start your car, that power is taken from the battery

I am pretty sure cause when I pulled over and try to start it again, it clicked over but it would not start. The light were working and everything. I am afraid that maybe I screwed something up cause I was way overdue for an oilchange?
