I was taught to drive in the right lane, the left lane is for passing, but you are suppose to be a defensive driver in so much yu are suppose to pay attention to merging traffic and help them join the flow, unless you aren't far enough ahead of that 18 wheeler do not pull into the left lane, he can't stop or slow as fast as a 4 wheeler, so either speed up and get the heck out of the way or slow down yourself for a few minutes, you can make the time up after you be courteous
Two ways to go: right and wrong, I was raised to do the "right" thing...:)
but there's a semi in the left lane.........I will die.........
